Statement From Congressman Dan Goldman on the Trump Administration’s Cancellation of Department of Justice Grants for Gun-Violence Prevention, Treatment Centers, More

Congressman Dan Goldman is a fierce proponent of commonsense gun safety solutions. To save lives and protect our communities, he knows we need to comprehensively tackle the unchecked proliferation of guns by instituting common sense solutions to gun violence including an assault weapons ban, universal background checks, waiting periods to purchase guns, stronger red flag laws, and a prohibition of the sale of ghost guns and high-capacity ammunition. Congressman Goldman has worked closely with community based-organizations on the front-line of the fight against gun violence in NY-10.

Congressman Goldman has introduced:

• Prioritizing Resources for Outreach, Safety, Violence Prevention, Youth Empowerment and Resilience (PROSPER) Act to invest in community-based organizations that focus on gun violence intervention and prevention
• Preventing Pretrial Gun Purchases Act to address flaws in the background check process and keep firearms out of the hands of individuals that courts determine pose a risk of harm to others
• Firearm Destruction Licensure Act to ensure firearms intended to be destroyed are not sold and do not fall back into the hands of bad actors
• Disarming Cartels Act to curtail the trafficking of U.S.-made firearms and ammunition south-bound over the U.S.-Mexico border

He is the Vice Chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force and Chair of the Dads Caucus Gun Violence Prevention Working Group.
