The President congratulated the Prime Minister of Canada on assuming office

President Gitanas Nausėda extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, on assuming office.

According to the President, Lithuania and Canada enjoy excellent bilateral relations, further enriched by a vibrant Lithuanian community in Canada.

"I am pleased with the active development of our trade and economic ties in recent years. I am confident that we will continue to strengthen our mutually beneficial economic cooperation in high value-added sectors, as well as in science, tourism and culture," the President wrote in his message of congratulations.

Lithuania and Canada are trusted NATO allies, united by a shared commitment to common values in addressing Euro-Atlantic security issues. The President thanked Canada for its significant contribution to security in the Baltic region - through its leadership of NATO Enhanced Forward Presence in Latvia and the deployment of personnel to the NATO Force Integration Unit in Vilnius. He affirmed that Lithuania remains fully committed to deepening cooperation in the fields of security and defense.

"Canada is a vital pillar of the transatlantic bond - a bond essential to European security. We highly value Canada's longstanding military, financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine. We must continue to stand united and determined in halting Russia's aggression and in advancing Ukraine's integration into the Euro-Atlantic security architecture," the President stated.

He wished Prime Minister Mark Carney success and strength in fulfilling his duties and conveyed best wishes for the continued well-being and prosperity of Canada and its people.
