President Trump Appoints Two New ACHP Members

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) Vice Chairman Travis Voyles welcomed Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and Marik String of Washington, DC, as new Council members. Appointed by President Donald J. Trump; Landry was sworn in as the Governor Member on January 30, and String as a General Public Member on January 16.

"On behalf of the ACHP, I am pleased to welcome Governor Jeff Landry and Marik String as new Council members," Vice Chairman Voyles said. "Their appointments by President Trump bring valuable leadership, perspective, and commitment to public service at a critical time for historic preservation nationwide. We look forward to working with these highly accomplished individuals as we advance the ACHP's mission."

Governor Jeff Landry is the 57th Governor of Louisiana and resides in Broussard, LA. A veteran of Operation Desert Storm, former police officer, and successful small business owner, Landry went on to serve as a U.S. Congressman and Louisiana Attorney General before being elected Governor in 2023.

Marik String practices sanctions and national security law and is a Senior Fellow at the Strauss Center for International Security and Law at the University of Texas at Austin. He served for 16 years in senior federal government roles at the Department of State, Department of Defense, and US Senate, including in the first and second Trump Administration as acting Legal Adviser (General Counsel) of the Department of State and Senior Advisor to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Landry and String join seven additional new members sworn in earlier this month.

Travis Voyles was appointed by President Trump in April 2025 as an expert member and vice chairman and carries out the functions of the chairman. He will continue to carry out these functions until a new chairman is sworn in after being nominated by the President and confirmed by the US Senate.
