Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright advised on three deals shortlisted for Latin Lawyer's 20th annual Deal of the Year Awards, which recognize law firms and general counsel that have worked on Latin America's most significant transactions over the last year.
In the "ESG finance " category, the firm advised the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) as an anchor investor in a COP-denominated US$600 million green bond issuance by the City of Bogotá. Bogotá's international green bond was the first of its kind issued by a municipality in Latin America. The proceeds will finance projects that will promote cleaner, more efficient and inclusive urban mobility, including Bogotá Metro Line 2 and electric cable car lines. The deal team included Kenneth Hansen and Micaela Garcia-Ribeyro (Washington, DC).
In the "Project finance: energy and natural resources" category, the firm advised Yinson Production on the placement of US$1.17 billion 144A/Reg S senior secured notes to refinance the floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) Maria Quitéria operating in the Jubarte field offshore Brazil. This is the world's largest and longest-dated FPSO project bond issued to date and set a record for the longest-dated structured finance bond in Brazil's history. The cross-border team was led by partners Ben Rose (Singapore), Dan Spencer (São Paulo), Peter Young (London), Bart Le Blanc and Omar Salah (Amsterdam).
In the same category, a deal team led by Raquel Bierzwinsky (New York) represented AES Pacífico in the US$548.9 million senior secured construction and term financing for the Pampas project, a hybrid solar, wind and battery energy storage system in Chile's Antofagasta region.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in São Paulo on May 7.
