With support from CABEI, thousands of Salvadoran athletes benefit from the renovation of nine sports venues

San Salvador, April 25, 2025.- With an investment of US$115.2 million, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) has renovated, refurbished, and equipped nine sports venues in San Salvador and La Libertad, benefiting more than 100,000 athletes, of whom more than 29,000 are women. A total of 31 sports are practiced at these venues.

Through the Infrastructure Construction and Sports Venue Restoration Program (PRODEPORTE), first-class facilities are made available to enable the professionalization of Salvadoran athletes, facilitating their training in conditions that enhance their talent and increase their performance and excellence. Due to their versatility, these sports venues are also facilities that promote social cohesion through art and culture, providing recreational spaces for the population.

During the implementation of this program, more than 28,000 direct and indirect jobs were created, with up to 22% of women participating. More than 246,000 square meters of space were built and renovated for cultural, sports, administrative, and recreational purposes.

In line with CABEI's new 2025-2029 Institutional Strategy, which seeks to improve the quality of life of people, especially young people, the PRODEPORTE Program reinforces the Bank's commitment to promoting health and inclusion, betting on sports as an engine of positive transformation that can generate opportunities for the countries we serve.
