Golden Eagles Advance to NJCAA Region 4 Championships at RVC

Rock Valley College Athletics will host the NJCAA Region 4 Basketball Championships on March 7 starting at 12:00 pm in the Physical Education Center on its Main Campus. Both RVC Men and Women won the first two rounds and will play for a berth to the NJCAA National Tournaments. For the teams that advance, the national tournaments will be played March 16-21; men's basketball will be held in Danville, IL, and the women will play in Hickory, NC.

"Championship moments are what college athletics are all about," said RVC Athletic Director Darin Monroe. "To have both of our basketball teams advancing and playing for a spot in the national tournament right here at home speaks volumes about the culture our coaches and student-athletes have built. We're honored to host this event and look forward to an exciting day of basketball on March 7."

The Region 4 Championship schedule for Saturday, March 7, 2026:

• Men's A Final: 12 pm: Milwaukee vs. Bryant & Stratton
• Men's B Final: 2:30 pm: Rock Valley vs. South Suburban
• Women's A Final: 5 pm: Kankakee vs. Moraine Valley
• Women's B Final: 7:30 pm: Rock Valley vs. Madison

The Golden Eagles women's basketball team advanced after winning their opening round game in the Region 4 tournament. The women defeated Black Hawk College 71-47. The Golden Eagles saw everyone make the box score in the scoring column. RVC was led by:

• Jazelle Young led the team with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
• Amadea Montijo had 11 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds on the night.
• Also making double figures was Mya VanEtten with 10 points.
• Just missing double figures was Hannah Morgan with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists, and DeNiya Gary with 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Golden Eagles men's basketball team won their opening round game in the Region 4 tournament. RVC defeated Carl Sandburg College 75-62. Some Golden Eagles highlights include:

• Cam Reed led the way for the men with 22 points on 8/11 shooting, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
• Cam Reed also became the men's all-time leader in career steals and assists after the semi-final game.
• Jamarion Readus, Adam Brown, and JT Samuels all reached double-digit scoring to help secure the win.

Come cheer on the Golden Eagles when they take the court this weekend: men at 2:30 pm and women at 7:30 pm. The cost of admission for the event is $10 for the day. You can also watch each game on HUDL FAN.
