Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited (RALL), a leading state-owned enterprise operating under the Ministry of Defence, today (April 23) officially handed over a dividend of Rs. 111,110,014.00 to the General Treasury from its earnings for the 2024/2025 financial year.
The Chairman of the company, Brigadier Jude Fernando (Retd), formally presented the cheque for this amount to the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), at the Deputy Minister's Office in Colombo. Subsequently, the Deputy Minister handed over the cheque to the Additional Director General of the Department of Public Enterprises, Mrs. Daneesha Jayadeva.
This marks a historic milestone for the company, as it is the first time in its history that such a significant dividend has been fully remitted to the government. The Deputy Minister also commended the company's impressive financial performance, highlighting a 74% increase in net profit compared to the previous year.
Established in 2006, Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd. currently employs over 3,750 well-trained professional personnel. The company provides security services to more than 600 leading institutions across both the public and private sectors. It has also earned international recognition as the only state-owned institution in Sri Lanka offering maritime security services.
Beyond its core security operations, the company delivers specialized services to over 100 government and private sector institutions. It is also engaged in a commendable welfare initiative that provides quality meals at concessionary prices to the public within the Colombo urban area.
The company's financial growth has been significantly driven by strong customer confidence in its specialized services, particularly in janitorial services and VVIP protection, operated under its 'Special Skills Services Unit.' Additionally, the 'Nedungolla Training School' (CIMSTA), the only training institution of its kind in Sri Lanka's private security providing sector, plays a vital role in maintaining a high standard of professionalism of its personnel. The training centre also extends its services to schools, universities, and other state institutions at concessionary rates, fulfilling an important social responsibility.
Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Minister Maj. Gen. Jayasekara appreciated the company's notable contribution to strengthening the national economy through its profitability and dividend payments to the Treasury. He emphasized that effective resource management and the dedication of the entire workforce were key factors behind this financial success. He further noted that Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd.'s progress, achieved through service diversification in a highly competitive market, serves as a valuable example for other state institutions.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Defence, including the Additional Secretary (Civil Security and Development), and representatives from Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd. were also present at the occasion.
