State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Damjan Jović met today in Tokyo with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ayano Kunimitsu.
During the meeting, the most important bilateral issues and the potential for further development of cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
The interlocutors emphasised the significance of exchanging visits at the high and top levels and expressed their belief that the established practice will continue, especially during 2027, which marks 145 years of friendship between Serbia and Japan, and when Expo events are being held in Belgrade and Yokohama.
The good cooperation between the two countries in the field of the economy and trade and investment relations was noted and the mutual desire for its further deepening was emphasised.
Opinions were also exchanged on topics of global and regional importance for the two countries.
Jović informed his interlocutors about the difficult situation of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, highlighting the position of institutions important for the survival of Serbs in the area.
The interlocutors emphasised the importance of multilateral cooperation for maintaining peace and stability in the world.
During their visit to Japan, State Secretary Jović and Director-General of the European Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Katsuro Kitagawa led bilateral political consultations between the two ministries.
