AHN Allegheny General Hospital, AHN Grove City Hospital and AHN Wexford Hospital are three of 12 winners in The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania's (HAP) annual awards program

PITTSBURGH - Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is proud to announce that three of its hospitals have been honored by The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) as part of its 2026 Achievement Awards program. Of the 12 statewide awardees, AHN Allegheny General Hospital (AGH), AHN Grove City Hospital and AHN Wexford Hospital were recognized for their innovative approaches and commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

HAP's annual Achievement Awards recognize hospitals and health systems across Pennsylvania that demonstrate exceptional efforts in strengthening care safety and quality, enhancing operations and patient experience, and partnering with their communities to address public health needs. This year, the program reviewed 125 entries.

The award-winning initiatives from AHN include:

  • AHN Allegheny General Hospital (Excellence in Care Award): Honored for advancing early mobility for critically ill patients on 'VA-ECMO' through a multidisciplinary care approach that improves survival and discharge outcomes. Veno-Arterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation is a life-support technique involving a person's heart and lungs.
  • AHN Grove City Hospital (Excellence in Care Award): Honored for spearheading a quality initiative focused on early sepsis detection and coordinated, evidence-based care.
  • AHN Wexford Hospital (In Safe Hands Award): Honored for introducing a standardized approach to aspiration risk screening and swallow evaluation for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) to reduce readmissions to the hospital.

"We are incredibly proud to see three of our hospitals recognized by HAP for their unwavering dedication to innovation and excellence," said Ezz-Eldin (Dean) Moukamal, MD, FHM, chief quality officer, AHN. "These awards are a testament to their care teams' hard work, clinical expertise and compassionate care, which collectively exemplify AHN's mission to deliver the highest standard of health care to our communities."

The winning hospitals will be recognized at HAP's annual Leadership Summit on June 2-3 in Hershey, Pa.
