Bynum Celebrates Delivery of Nearly $1 Million in Funding to Bend

Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05) joined local leaders to celebrate the delivery of federal funding to the City of Bend. $992,250 in federal funding will go to the city's Neighborhood Drinking Water Protection Program. The funds will be used to replace fragile galvanized pipes in Bend to protect drinking water quality, improve water system redundancy, and ensure nearby hydrants can meet fire flow requirements.

"Access to clean drinking water is not only key to keeping Oregonians safe and healthy, but it enables our communities to grow, build more housing, and in turn, have a stronger economy with lower costs," said Rep. Bynum. "I am proud to secure this federal funding and deliver results back home. I promise to keep up the fight and bring home every dollar available."

"This is a huge win for Bend and an investment in the health and safety of our community members now and into the future," said City of Bend Mayor Melanie Kebler. "Federal funding like this makes a real difference. It will allow us to replace aging pipes, improve our water system, safeguard our drinking water and enhance fire protection. Thank you to Representative Bynum for securing the funding and investing in our community."

In total, Congresswoman Bynum has secured $14,725,250 for Oregon's Fifth Congressional District through Community Project Funding.
