The Santa Ana City Council has taken the first step to reimagine River View Golf Course with a goal of creating new recreational opportunities for Santa Ana residents, community programming and long-term investments in this regional golfing destination.
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the City Council approved a new professional management agreement with CourseCo Inc. to begin operating River View Golf Course on May 1, 2026. CourseCo brings extensive experience in municipal golf operations, currently managing more than 40 publicly owned courses nationwide, including courses operating under similar agreement structures in Fullerton and Santa Barbara.
"This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for River View Golf Course," Mayor Valerie Amezcua said. "By bringing in an experienced operator with a bold vision, we're not only revitalizing a cherished community asset but reimagining it as a vibrant recreational destination for residents and visitors alike. We look forward to seeing this investment enhance the player experience, strengthen local tourism, and ensure the long-term sustainability of this important public amenity."
The transition marks an exciting new chapter for one of Santa Ana's most treasured recreational amenities. River View Golf Course has served the community for more than 60 years, welcoming generations of golfers to enjoy a course that offers a rewarding blend of challenge and playability along the Santa Ana River.
It is currently operating under a private lease model under third-party management, Riverview Golf LLC. The City's lease agreement with the Riverview Golf LLC is set to expire on April 30, 2026. The operator's lease with the Orange County Flood District has expired and is currently in a month to month status.
As the current lease concludes, the City is transitioning to a professional management agreement model that allows the City to retain ownership while increasing oversight of operations. This new structure allows the City to take a more active role in programming, community events, capital improvements, and long-term planning - ensuring that the course remains self-sustaining, accessible, and community-centered for years to come.
