San Rafael Fire Department staff recently attended the Marin Wildfire Preparedness Public Forum on Saturday, May 2nd at Embassy Suites in San Rafael, hosted by the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority. The morning event featured a presentation and panel discussion focused on the update to Marin County's Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) which is a science-based assessment of wildfire hazards and threats to homes in the wildland-urban interface. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, submit comments, and speak directly with representatives from local fire agencies and partner organizations.
The updated 2026 CWPP, developed in collaboration with data and modeling experts, aims to identify high-risk areas, track mitigation progress, and strengthen community-wide wildfire preparedness across all zones of the county. Public comments on the draft plan are being accepted through May 17, 2026 at [email protected]
