Anna Nagurney Honored with INFORMS President’s Award

Anna Nagurney, Eugene M. Isenberg Chair in Integrative Studies and director of the Virtual Center for Supernetworks in Isenberg's Department of Operations and Information Management, has been named the recipient of the 2025 President's Award from INFORMS, the leading international association for operations research and analytics professionals.

The award celebrates individuals whose work demonstrates the transformative power of operations research and management science (OR/MS) to improve lives locally, nationally and globally.

Nagurney was recognized for her pioneering research in supply chain and transportation networks, her leadership in advancing women in OR/MS and her commitment to applying analytical methods for societal benefit.

"Anna Nagurney's scholarship, mentorship and leadership have left an indelible mark on our profession," says David Hunt, 2025 president of INFORMS. "Her research has shaped solutions to critical societal challenges, from medical supply chains and sustainability to financial systems and disaster preparedness. Equally important, she has inspired and championed future generations of OR/MS leaders. She is a most deserving recipient of the INFORMS President's Award."

Nagurney has authored or co-authored 16 books, 50 book chapters and more than 230 refereed journal articles. Her work has influenced urgent areas such as perishable medical product logistics, network disruption management, sustainable operations and emergency preparedness.

A mentor and ambassador for the field who continues to cultivate the next generation of researchers and practitioners, since 2004 she has also served as faculty advisor to the UMass INFORMS Student Chapter-one of the association's most active-and has chaired 23 doctoral dissertations.
