Work will launch Monday, March 30 on rebuilding 18th Avenue SW from Edgewood Road to Wiley Boulevard.
This project is part of the City's Paving for Progress (PFP) program.
Expected to last through October, the City will replace pavement, install an entirely new storm sewer system, and make water main improvements. These repairs are critically needed, especially considering the increased traffic flow when the new West Cedar Rapids Public Library - currently under construction - opens this fall.
Lane closures on Edgewood Road will last approximately four weeks, reopening in late April. 18th Ave SW will be closed to through traffic between Edgewood Road to Wiley Boulevard for the duration of the project. Local access will be provided.
