Personal Care Products Council Statement on the Safety of Lipstick Products

WASHINGTON, D.C. - "The Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) and its member companies are committed to ensuring consumers have access to safe and effective cosmetics and personal care products that follow all applicable regulatory guidelines. These products, including lipsticks, are extensively tested and deemed safe in accordance with state and federal regulations.

"As FDA has noted, trace amounts of certain elements may be present in some cosmetics that contain naturally occurring mineral-based ingredients, such as pigments or clays. These technically unavoidable trace amounts do not mean a product is unsafe. Our member companies follow rigorous quality controls to ensure that these trace amounts do not pose any risk to consumers and meet applicable safety and regulatory standards.

"Consumer safety remains our highest priority, and we are committed to providing accurate, science-based information about cosmetic ingredients and product safety."
