Buc-ee's is one step closer to opening in Goodyear. The beloved travel center known for its world-famous clean bathrooms, fresh food, and friendly service, officially broke ground in Goodyear on May 14. The groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction on what will be the first Buc-ee's in Arizona.
Mayor Joe Pizzillo, the Goodyear City Council and City Manager Wynette Reed, joined Buc-ee's executives, community members and other elected officials to celebrate the project milestone. The ceremony was held at the future site of Buc-ee's, located on the southeast corner of I-10 and Bullard Avenue.
"Buc-ee's is a destination and 80% of its business comes from outside the city, which means it won't take away from our existing businesses," said Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo. "Buc-ee's will add to the city's revenue that helps pay for police, fire and streets."
The Goodyear Buc-ee's will span 74,000 square feet, feature 120 fueling pumps and is expected to open in summer 2026. It will offer all the Buc-ee's fan favorites, including Texas-style barbecue, homemade fudge, Beaver Nuggets, jerky, and freshly baked pastries. There will also be thousands of other snack, meal, and drink options, along with the award-winning restrooms and high-quality service that have made Buc-ee's a must-stop destination for more than four decades.
"We're really excited about our first location in Arizona and we're particularly pleased to be in Goodyear," said Arch "Beaver" Aplin, Buc-ee's co-founder and owner. "With the city's business-friendly city council and its amazing employment opportunities, Goodyear is the perfect location for us."
Founded in Texas in 1982, Buc-ee's has grown to operate 51 stores across the country. The Goodyear location represents the company's expansion into the western U.S. and is expected to bring more than 200 full-time jobs to the city. Buc-ee's offers competitive pay well above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% 401(k) match, and three weeks of paid vacation.
Beyond job creation, Buc-ee's is poised to be a catalyst for economic development in Goodyear. The travel center is anticipated to attract high volumes of visitors, increasing visibility and drawing in complementary businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and retail stores.
