Following an assessment, the Johannes Kepler University Linz' quality management system has been re-certified.
The Swiss International Agency for Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AAQ) certified the JKU for an additional seven-year period.
Rector Stefan Koch: "We have every reason to be very pleased with the outcome of the re-audit here at the JKU! The auditors set only one condition to be implemented within 18 months. I would like to thank all of the JKU employees who work hard every day to uphold our high standards in research, education and support services!"
Following the quality management system's (QMS) first audit in March 2018, the AAQ certified the system for a seven-year period (to March 2025), meaning QMS underwent a re-auditing process with the AAQ during December 2023. Subsequently, and on an ongoing basis, a specially appointed management group and project group carried out the coordination and preparation work in support of the re-audit, writing a self-assessment outlining the JKU's quality management system and providing a critical reflection on the AAQ standards and the University Quality Assurance Act (HS-QSG).
Five AAQ evaluators conducted an on-site visit with JKU representatives in mid-November 2024. Over 70 university representatives (from the University Council, the Rectorate, the Senate, selected professors, mid-level faculty, study commission members, works council members, members from the working group for equal opportunities, members from support services, and students) took part in a number of discussions regarding a variety of quality standards and quality assurance measures.
The certificate confirms the JKU Linz has successfully fulfilled the requirements as outlined in the Austrian Universities Act (UG 2002) and in the HS-QSG, as well as its responsibility under the 2025-2027 performance agreement.
