The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to rehabilitate or replace Retaining Wall Nos. RW-079-070-001 and RW-079-070-002 on Route 70 (River Road) in Meriden.
The project involves the replacement of Retaining Wall No. RW-079-070-001 with a new retaining wall structure and the rehabilitation of Retaining Wall No. RW-079-070-002, located along Route 70 in Meriden. The roadway will also be slightly widened to accommodate 2-foot shoulders and 11-foot lanes.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in 2028, with construction anticipated to start in 2029, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with 80% federal and 20% state funds.
It is CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with CTDOT to assist in the project's development.
