Statement from TASB in Response to Texas State Republican Executive Committee Resolution

Austin- The concepts of fiscal responsibility, transparency, and local control listed as priorities by the Republican Party of Texas already direct the work of TASB, which has a long and successful track record of providing school districts with high-value, high-quality services and solutions that help steward taxpayer resources.

It's frustrating and concerning that the resolution passed by the Texas State Republican Executive Committee includes a long list of inaccurate statements about TASB fueled by inflammatory language and misinformation.

Since 1949, TASB has worked to support Texas public schools and their elected school boards, which have always had the choice to determine which, if any, TASB services they wish to participate in.

When TASB or one of its affiliated entities offers a program, it's often because the private sector has left a vacuum where there is a need, especially for small and rural school districts. Just ask any school district about the availability of property and liability coverage in today's insurance market.

Additionally, Texans should know TASB's governance structure is nonpartisan and everything we do complies with state law, including all legislation related to DEI. Assertions to the contrary are grossly misinformed and blatantly false.
