Saint Francis Partners with Jackson R-2 to Launch IGNITE Program

August 21, 2025

Saint Francis Healthcare System is proud to host the IGNITE Program, a profession-based learning initiative developed in partnership with Jackson R2 High School and part of the nationally recognized Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) network.

The IGNITE Program gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to explore diverse career paths through industry-specific coursework, hands-on projects and professional skill-building. Of the 55 students who applied, 33 were selected for the 2025-2026 school year, with three primary career pathways being offered: education, business and healthcare.

Through this partnership, students will combine classroom instruction with real-world clinical experience at Saint Francis. Guided by both a classroom teacher and Saint Francis clinical professionals, students will gain a deeper understanding of healthcare careers while building skills essential for success in the future workforce.

"Saint Francis is deeply committed to growing the next generation of healthcare professionals," said Justin Davison, President and CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare System. "By partnering with the Jackson R-2 School District, we are giving students early access to meaningful, hands-on experiences that will prepare them for bright futures and help strengthen the healthcare pipeline for our region."

The CAPS model is nationally recognized for preparing students for tomorrow's workforce through innovative, immersive learning that benefits students, businesses, and the community alike.
