Holzapfel Bill to Make Preschool, Child Care Less Complicated Passes Committee

Jim Holzapfel Posted on October 01, 2026

Senator Jim Holzapfel's bill to give parents more flexibility and control over their children's preschool and child-care arrangements passed the Senate Education Committee.

Specifically, the bill would allow parents of twins, triplets, and other multiples to request that their children be placed together or separately and be treated as a single unit when applying for preschool through a lottery or open enrollment process.

"Parents of twins, triplets, and other multiples already have enough to juggle without needing to navigate separate preschool placements, classrooms, or child-care arrangements," said Sen. Holzapfel. "This bill gives families more say in what works best for their children and helps ensure they aren't unnecessarily split up simply because of how the enrollment process works."
