Ontario County Launches SWIMS Program to Hire Lifeguards for Summer 2025

Ontario County has launched a new initiative to boost staffing at local pools and beaches while eliminating financial barriers for young job seekers. The seasonal hiring campaign is using funds from New York SWIMS (Statewide Investment in More Swimming) to help fill lifeguard positions at municipal pools and beaches across the County, including Deep Run Park, Onanda Park, Kershaw Park, and Sandy Bottom Park and through the Town of Victor and Village of Naples recreation programs.

To help teens and young adults take advantage of these vital seasonal jobs, Ontario County is removing one of the biggest barriers: the upfront cost of lifeguard certification and training. Through SWIMS, the County will reimburse lifeguards for their required certification and training costs.

Positions available include Lifeguard, Senior Lifeguard, and Aquatics Supervisor, with openings across multiple municipalities. Job listings are posted on the Ontario County website under Human Resources seasonal positions (https://ontario-portal.mycivilservice.com/jobopps). Applicants must be at least 15 years old and possess valid CPR and Lifeguard certifications at the time of hire.
