Community Market Brings Fresh Produce, Local Artisans, and Assistance Programs to West Jordan

West Jordan's Community Market is back for the season bringing handmade goods, farm-fresh produce, and valuable resources to residents every Wednesday evening through October 1. The market is held at Veterans Memorial Park (1985 W 7800 S) from 5 PM to 9 PM.

This weekly event is more than just a place to shop. It's an opportunity for local artisans and small business owners to connect with the community, share their craft, and showcase their goods. Vendors interested in participating can email [email protected] to reserve a spot.

In addition to supporting local businesses, the Community Market is also a hub for fresh, affordable food especially for seniors and EBT users.

Seniors: You May Qualify for $50 in Fresh Produce

Through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), qualifying seniors can receive $50 in coupons to use on fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey at the market.

Here's how to get started:

  1. Visit the information booth at the market.
  2. Be age 60 or older.
  3. Meet income eligibility requirements (185% of the federal poverty level).
  4. Ensure you haven't received vouchers yet this year.
  5. Receive one booklet of ten $5 coupons to use during the season.

Supplies are limited, so seniors are encouraged to act quickly.

EBT Cardholders: Double Your Dollars with Double Up Food Bucks

If you have an EBT card, you can stretch your grocery budget with Double Up Food Bucks a program that gives you free fruits and vegetables when you use your SNAP benefits at the market.

Buy one, get one: for every dollar you spend with your EBT card, you get a dollar in Double Up Food Bucks to use on fresh produce.
