City of Montgomery Parks & Recreation Celebrates National Tennis Month with Series of Community Events

The City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating National Tennis Month this May with a full lineup of free community events designed to introduce residents of all ages to the sport and promote fitness, fun, and connection.

The monthlong celebration includes youth festivals, family activities, and special programming for women, all hosted at local community centers and the O'Connor Tennis Center.

Kids Tennis Festival - May 2
National Tennis Month kicks off Saturday, May 2, with the Kids Tennis Festival from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the O'Connor Tennis Center, 500 Anderson Street.
Open to ages 6-18, the festival offers engaging instruction, match play opportunities, light refreshments, and free giveaways. The event is designed for both first-time players and young athletes already familiar with the game.

Tennis Day - May 5
The celebration continues Tuesday, May 5, with Tennis Day at the Highland Gardens Community Center, 2805 Willena Ave., from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
This free program welcomes children ages 6-13 and provides age-appropriate tennis instruction, friendly match play, refreshments, and fun surprises. All equipment will be provided.

Family Hit to Be Fit - May 15
Families are invited to step onto the court together on Friday, May 15, during Family Hit to Be Fit from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the O'Connor Tennis Center.
Open to all ages and skill levels, the event promotes family fitness through tennis activities designed to be fun, approachable, and energetic. Loaner racquets will be available for those who need them.

Ladies Connection - May 16
Women ages 21-99 are encouraged to join the Ladies Connection event on Saturday, May 16, from 9:00-11:00 a.m., also at the O'Connor Tennis Center.
The morning aims to create a supportive space for women of all experience levels to learn, play, and connect. Loaner racquets will be available, and sessions will focus on basic skill instruction, confidence-building, and camaraderie on the court.
