Kyiv, Ukraine - A nationwide poll conducted by the International Republican Institute's (IRI) Center for Insights in Survey Research shows that Armenians perceive progress on peace and stability, with the percentage reporting national security and border issues as the top problem the country is facing dropping from 44 percent in June 2025 to 21 percent in February 2026.
"Armenians have clearly prioritized peace and stability," said Stephen Nix, Senior Director for Europe and Eurasia at IRI. "They now expect their government to prioritize and deliver on economic progress."
The poll also shows that 72 percent of Armenians support the country's possible accession to the European Union (EU) and that 51 percent would vote to join the EU if a referendum on membership were held this coming Sunday.
"Armenians clearly desire a future oriented towards Europe, which they believe will strengthen their economy and national security," stated Nix.
In advance of the June parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract holds an early lead, with nearly 30 percent of likely voters reporting they would vote for the party if an election were held next Sunday. However, 28 percent are undecided, and 11 percent refused to name the party they would vote for.

Data was collected via telephone (CATI) administered interviews throughout Armenia between February 3 and 13, 2026. The sample consisted of 1,506 resident citizens of Armenia and forcibly displaced former residents of Nagorno Karabakh who are now residing in Armenia (who may or may not be citizens.) Respondents were selected via random digit dialing (RDD) of mobile phone numbers. The achieved sample was weighted for age, gender, and settlement type according to the 2023 ARMSTAT data for the de jure population, as well as to the midpoint between the 2022 census data (for those aged 18+) and the educational attainment level of IRI's polling average. The margin of error does not exceed plus or minus 2.5 percentage points for the full sample. The response rate was 22 percent.
