On Tuesday, 10 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, visited Odesa along with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha.
In Odesa, the Ministers visited the maternity ward, which was struck in the overnight Russian attack, and a shelter serving as an underground school in Molodizhne, which was built under the programme funded by Lithuania, Ireland and the European Union.
"Every euro spent here makes a lot of sense because it allows people to continue to live here. Otherwise they would be forced to leave their cities, move elsewhere, and that is exactly what Russia's seeks - to push the people out," said the head of Lithuania's diplomacy.
Molodizhne Lyceum is one of the 6 facilities set up with the EU funds to provide safe education for Ukrainian children in high-risk areas. These objects are located in shelters safe from bombs and protected from radiation. Around 5,000 children attend these schools. Such centres are also established in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv Oblasts.
