One-Way Traffic Control and Full Highway Closure Next Week

Calaveras County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have traffic controls in place for the following construction and maintenance activities on State Route 4 (SR-4), SR-26, & SR-49 in Calaveras County next week. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

State Route 4

  • Overnight one-way traffic control from Brice Station Road to Forest Meadows Drive for drainage work beginning Sunday, August 9, through Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • One-way traffic control at Little Johns Creek for bridge work beginning Monday, August 10, through Friday, Friday August 14, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Big Trees Park Entrance to Meko Drive for tree work beginning Monday, August 10, through Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

State Route 26

  • Long-term full highway closure at the East Side of SR-26/49 Intersection from Church Street to SR-49 for highway construction work beginning Wednesday, July 29, at 7:00 a.m. through Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.
  • One-way traffic control at Stone Corral Creek for bridge work beginning Monday, August 10, through Thursday, August 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, August 14, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Barney Way to Higdon Road for tree work beginning Tuesday, August 11, through Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

State Route 49

  • Overnight conventional lane closure from South Bret Harte to Copello Drive for pavement work beginning Sunday, August 9, through Friday, August 14, 2026, from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • Conventional lane closure from South Bret Harte to Copello Drive for pavement work beginning Monday, August 10, through Friday, August 14, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
