NTCA Supports Protection of Nation’s Networks While Advocating for Clear, Consistent Policies

(April 16) In a letter to the FCC, NTCA addressed the commission's Declaratory Ruling that interprets Section 105 of the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) as requiring telecommunications carriers to secure their networks against unauthorized access and interception. NTCA stressed the importance of collaboration between industry stakeholders and the government, as well as consistency across different services when considering cybersecurity requirements. The association also advocated for policies that ensure small, rural providers have the resources and guidance needed to mitigate cyber risks that take into account the financial and operational burdens any regulations may impose.
