CLEVELAND - The City of Cleveland is gearing up for the USS Cleveland Commissioning Ceremony on Saturday, May 16th, and the University Hospitals Cleveland Marathon on Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th, 2026. On Saturday, the U.S. Navy will commission the future Freedom-variant Littoral Combat Ship USS Cleveland (LCS 31) into active service, marking the first U.S. navy warship to ever commission in the state of Ohio. The Cleveland Marathon race weekend features activities for all ages and skill levels, from the 5K, 10K, and Kids Fun Run to the half and full marathons.
The City of Cleveland announced traffic information, including road closures and parking restrictions, as large crowds are expected for these events. Information is subject to change based on real-time information as vehicular and pedestrian traffic evolves. All closure times depend on traffic volume and can be adjusted as needed by the Cleveland Division of Police Bureau of Traffic. All decisions are made with public safety at top of mind. As always, exercise caution, and if you see something, please say something. For emergencies, call 911. The Cleveland Police non-emergency number is (216) 621-1234.

Special Event Parking Zones
Downtown Special Events Zones will be in effect for the Cleveland Guardians games on Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th. On-street parking will be $8/hour in these zones and are only temporary in nature - as they will start two hours before the games and remain in effect through the conclusion of each game or until 10pm, whichever comes first.
These zones only include a limited number of streets and are significantly cheaper than event rates at any privately-owned parking lot/garage in the city. The updated rates will be reflected on ParkMobile, and users can pay in the app, online, or by phone via text/call. For those wishing to pay with cash, pay stations are also available throughout the area. Please look for nearby signage directing you to the closest pay station to where you parked.
Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead prior to arriving downtown for a better, easier parking experience. The Special Event Parking Map, along with additional street parking information, can be found on the City's website at clevelandohio.gov/streetparking.
