Selected Grant Opportunities for Texas Counties

The Office of the Governor is accepting applications for the County Essential Services Grant Program, FY2026. This grant provides direct financial assistance to Texas counties to support law enforcement services, jail operations and court services. The program places a strong emphasis on case-by-case funding, giving preference to counties seeking reimbursement for extraordinary costs incurred during the investigation or prosecution of capital murders and hate crimes.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has opened the application window for the FY 2026 Pipeline Emergency Response Grant (PERG). This program provides up to $250,000 to state, county and municipal governments for specialized training to personnel who operate near certain natural gas or hazardous liquid pipelines.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is addressing criminal justice reform through the FY25 Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI): Strengthening State and Local Operations to Reduce Crime and Recidivism. This national program offers awards up to $4 million to state, local and tribal governments.
