SMUD volunteers to plant trees to honor veterans in Saluting Branches event

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - SMUD volunteers and community members will come together to plant trees at the Sacramento County Veterans Memorial Cemetery as part of a Saluting Branches event - a national day of service honoring our nation's veterans. Volunteers will plant 15 trees to help clean the air and provide a shady respite at the cemetery.

Since 1990, SMUD and its partners have helped plant more than 630,000 shade trees in the Sacramento area. A healthy tree canopy cools homes and buildings during hot weather and can also help lower utility bills and store carbon for cleaner air, while providing other community-wide benefits.
