Remi Barrera Sentenced on Drug Charges

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella announces that Remi Barrera, age 38, of Nashua, New Hampshire, has been sentenced by the Hillsborough County Superior Court Southern District in two cases. In the first case, from 2025, the defendant was sentenced on one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug With Intent to Sell, Subsequent Offense, and three counts of Sale of a Controlled Drug, Subsequent Offense. In the second case, from 2024, the defendant was sentenced on two counts of Sale of a Controlled Drug, Subsequent Offense, and one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Sell, Subsequent Offense.

After the defendant pleaded guilty, in the 2025 case, the court sentenced the defendant to serve 6 to 12 years in state prison on the Possession of a Controlled Drug With Intent to Sell charge, with one year to be suspended from the minimum upon successful completion of substance abuse treatment while incarcerated. On the three Sales charges, the court sentenced the defendant to 7.5 to 15 years in state prison, all of which are suspended for ten years from the date of the defendant's release, to be served consecutively to the sentence on the Possession of a Controlled Drug With Intent to Sell charge if imposed, and concurrently with each other.

In the 2024 case, the court sentenced the defendant to serve 2 to 4 years in state prison, on each of the three charges. Those sentences are to be served concurrently with the sentence on the 2025 case, and with each other.

The evidence in the 2025 case established that on three dates in January, 2025, the defendant sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant working with the Nashua Police. When the defendant was arrested, he was found to be in possession of approximately 51 grams of fentanyl. The defendant was previously convicted of a drug offense in 2010. In a post-arrest interview, the defendant admitted that he intended to re-sell the fentanyl found on his person. The investigation by the Nashua Police determined that the defendant had made thousands of sales of drugs to individuals in New Hampshire, and was travelling to Massachusetts to resupply several times a week.

In the 2024 case, the evidence established that the defendant sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant working with the Nashua Police in August of 2023, sold fentanyl to a confidential informant in October of 2023, and possessed fentanyl with intent to sell in January of 2024.

The investigation and resolution of these cases were the result of collaborative efforts of the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office's Drug Prosecution Unit, the Hillsborough County Attorney's Office, and the Nashua Police Department.
