Washington, D.C. - Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today released a comprehensive request for information on a range of policy proposals aimed at improving health care for all Americans.
"Americans are demanding action to address the dismal reality of health care: they are paying more but getting less," Wyden said. "Today's announcement is the latest step among Senate Democrats to leave no stone unturned as we work to reimagine the American health care system so it works for every family. I look forward to bold ideas and perspectives from all comers as senators begin to develop legislative proposals that will meet the moment American families are demanding."
The request for information seeks feedback on a range of policy proposals, including lowering premiums and deductibles, expanding coverage options with Medicare-like choices for everyone, simplifying enrollment, ending insurance company practices that delay and deny care, and eliminating business tactics and shell games that health care corporations use to drive up costs. Three general areas for feedback include:
Reversing Republican Cuts and Reimagining a Better Path
Making Health Care Simpler for Families
Taking on Corporate Greed
This year, Wyden and Senate Democrats have embarked on a series of projects to identify health care reforms that will improve the lives of American families related to prescription drug pricing, health coverage, and long-term care. Last month, Wyden released a similar request for information on prescription drug pricing.
