Congratulatory telegram from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon

The United Nations Secretary-General, His Excellency Mr. António Guterres sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Mr. Emomali Rahmon, which states, in particular:

"Excellency,

I extend my congratulations on the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the resolution proclaiming the International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations (2027-2036). This important achievement reflects the dedication of the Republic of Tajikistan to global peace through multilateralism, dialogue and international cooperation.

At a moment of profound global challenges, this initiative builds on the commitments of the 2024 Summit of the Future and the Pact for the Future in sending a powerful message about the need to invest in peace, prevention and solidarity for the benefit of present and future generations.

I commend the efforts of the Government and people of Tajikistan in resolving conflict with neighbouring states and reaffirm the support of the United Nations to advancing this culture of peace and respect for international law to strengthen cooperation among nations.
