STATEMENT: Senator Blunt Rochester Statement on Federal Court Order Protecting Agencies, Including Minority Business Development Agency, from Trump Cuts

Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, released the following statement after a legal effort, led by Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings, stopped the Trump administration from dismantling the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA):

"The Minority Business Development Agency was established by Congress to help small, minority-owned businesses grow and thrive after decades of being left behind. Though the administration tried to illegally shutter this vital agency without Congress, thanks to overwhelming pushback, led by Delaware AG Kathy Jennings, we were able to put a stop to this harmful effort.

"The MBDA represents years of good-faith, bipartisan work to ensure all entrepreneurs can access capital and see their businesses succeed. I have been committed to this effort throughout my career, first as Delaware's Secretary of Labor and now as a member of the Commerce Committee in the Senate.

"During National Small Business Week, I welcome this decision by the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island and thank Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings, as well as her fellow state attorneys general, for their leadership."
