April 7, 2026 - "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community" - That's the theme of National Public Works Week, taking place May 17-23, 2026 through the American Public Works Association.
To kick off National Public Works Week, the City of Bettendorf's Public Works Department is hosting its Annual Public Works Day on Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Bettendorf Public Works Annex (4403 Devils Glen Road).
This is a family-friendly, fun-filled event that includes:
"On this Public Works Day, it is important to celebrate our dedicated staff and their service to our community by ensuring a high-quality life for all our residents," said Brian Schmidt, Public Works Director.
NAMING CONTEST: After a successful Recycling Truck Naming Contest in 2024 and Snowplow Naming Contest in 2025, the City is holding another Snowplow Naming Contest for two of its new snowplows in 2026! To submit a name, visit www.bettendorf.org/NamingContest by Thursday, April 23 at noon. On Friday, April 24, the City will launch a poll for people to cast their vote on their favorite name.
