MetroHealth Again Earns CHIME’s Highest Digital Health Recognition

The MetroHealth System has once again been recognized among the nation's leaders in digital healthcare, earning Level 10 status in the 2026 Digital Health Most Wired survey from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), the highest designation awarded through the program.

MetroHealth is one of just 14 health systems nationwide to achieve Level 10 recognition in 2026, placing it among an elite group of organizations demonstrating excellence in how technology is used to improve patient care, support caregivers and strengthen healthcare operations. MetroHealth is also the only health system in Northeast Ohio and one of two in Ohio to achieve Level 10 honors. You can learn more about the recipients here.

"Achieving Level 10 again is a testament to the collaboration and dedication of people across our health system," said Nabil Chehade, MD, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Clinical Transformation, Innovation and Strategy Officer. "I am grateful to every employee who has helped advance our digital capabilities. Their work allows us to turn technology into something meaningful for patients and caregivers, improving access, enhancing safety and supporting better outcomes throughout our community."

The annual Digital Health Most Wired survey evaluates healthcare organizations across a broad range of capabilities, including analytics, cybersecurity, interoperability, patient engagement, clinical quality and innovation. This year's assessment included data from more than 45,000 healthcare facilities worldwide.

According to CHIME, Level 10 organizations distinguish themselves by integrating digital tools throughout clinical and operational workflows and demonstrating measurable value for patients, providers and health systems.

MetroHealth has long been a leader in health information technology and digital innovation, leveraging advanced tools to help deliver safer, more connected and more accessible care.

MetroHealth, for example, signed its contract with Epic in 1998 and went live with the platform in its ambulatory facilities in 1999. Five years later, MetroHealth installed Epic in the Emergency Department and, in 2009, inpatient units. Today, MetroHealth ranks among the top 1% of health systems in terms of electronic health record implementation and use, having earned HIMSS' Stage 7 validation.
