Global survey reveals rising violence against women journalists

Online violence is now a major barrier to women's participation in journalism, public debate, and democratic life. Coordinated harassment campaigns aim to silence women journalists, activists and human-rights defenders. When digital abuse escalates into offline intimidation or physical danger, the chilling effect becomes far more severe, deterring women from reporting reducing newsroom diversity, and limiting the public's access to information.
