Notice of a Public Comment Period and Public Hearing

Application by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation d/b/a National Grid for a Permit to bury a public utility line beneath the width of Charley Hollow Road, Town Highway located on New York State Forest Preserve Land in the Town of Schroon

Pursuant to ECL § 9-2103 National Grid has applied for a permit to extend electric distribution service across land of the NYS Forest Preserve. The project will extend electrical service 1.17 miles from existing electric service located along Charley Hill Road to a residential property located at 252 Charley Hollow Road. To extend service to the residential property, the applicant is seeking a permit to place the electric utility beneath the width of the Town Highway, Charley Hollow Road, for approximately 3,133 feet through New York State Forest Preserve. The project sponsor has determined that minimal tree removal will occur at the intersection of Charley Hill Road and no trees will be removed from State Forest Preserve land.

The project is located on Charley Hollow Road, Town of Schroon, Essex County, New York.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation will hold a virtual public hearing to receive comments on this project on Monday June 23rd, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. via Webex.
