Why Kelsea Ballerini Is 'Giddy' To Team Up With Little Big Town

Kelsea Ballerini said she's "giddy" that Little Big Town released "Closing Time," a collaboration that arrived on Friday (August 14).

Ballerini, 32, shared in a TikTok caption on Monday (August 17) that she co-wrote the song while writing for her fifth studio record, Patterns, which she released in October 2024. She extended it into a deluxe edition featuring five new tracks in March 2025. Ballerini wrote the Patterns era with an all-female group of songwriters and producers. She penned "Closing Time" with Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild, plus Jessie Jo Dillon, Hillary Lindsey and Alysa Vanderheym.

Ballerini wrote in her caption on TikTok, "i wrote this song with karen and the girls during the Patterns album era and am giddy that [Little Big Town] brought it into the world like only they can. we hope you love it!!!"

Little Big Town replied in the comments: "Love you KB ♥️"

"Closing Time" is one of 13 tracks appearing on Little Big Town's upcoming album, It's A Dying Art, arriving later this month. So far, Little Big Town - which also includes Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook - also released "Sucker For A Sad Song" with Ashley Monroe, "Hey There Sunshine," "Over And Over" and "We Could Have It All" from the album. It's A Dying Art will arrive on August 28.

"Closing Time" is the latest collaboration from Ballerini. Earlier this summer, she released "Math of Us" withPatrick Droney, an emotional ballad that appeared on Droney's new album. Before that, Ballerini and Marshmello delivered "Another Drink," an upbeat, summer-worthy anthem. Ballerini released both songs as she spent "a chapter of life" in New York City. She said on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle that "I want to make my next record up here. …I really am loving it. It's just such an alive place. It's so creative. ...I'm loving this chapter of life just because I really feel like I'm being really intentional about connecting to myself."
