New Additions to New Hampshire Cold Case Unit Announced

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall announce the assignment of two new full-time investigators to the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit: Detective Sergeant Mallory Littman and Detective Matthew Anderson. Both investigators are veteran members of the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit, bringing with them extensive experience in complex homicide investigations.

"Every unsolved homicide leaves a family searching for answers, and our responsibility is to ensure those cases are never forgotten. Adding these two experienced investigators to the Cold Case Unit strengthens our ability to deliver justice, no matter how much time has passed," said Governor Kelly A. Ayotte. "I am grateful to Attorney General Formella, Colonel Hall, and the dedicated men and women of law enforcement who carry out this vital work every day."

"We know that for the families impacted by unsolved homicides, the pain does not fade with time," said Attorney General Formella. "By investing in the Cold Case Unit and ensuring it has the resources and personnel it needs, we reaffirm our commitment to justice for every victim, no matter how long it takes."

The Cold Case Unit, a collaborative effort between the New Hampshire Department of Justice and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit, operates under the joint direction of the Attorney General and the Commissioner of the Department of Safety, in accordance with RSA 21-M:8-m. The Unit's unique structure brings together legal and investigative expertise to review and advance cases that have long gone unsolved.

"These additions further strengthen our shared commitment to pursuing justice for victims and their families, regardless of how much time has passed," said Colonel Hall. "Detective Sergeant Littman and Detective Anderson bring with them a wealth of knowledge, professionalism, and passion for solving these difficult cases. Their full-time dedication will help ensure that no case is forgotten."

Detective Sergeant Littman and Detective Anderson join a team of full-time professionals already dedicated to cold case work, including veteran NH DOJ investigators Todd Flanagan and Bruce Foremny. The team is led by Senior Assistant Attorney General Chris Knowles, a seasoned homicide prosecutor, and includes Assistant Attorney General Rachel Harrington, who has served in the Cold Case Unit since 2019 and has played a pivotal role in advancing several high-profile cases. The Unit also benefits from the part-time support of experienced Major Crime Unit auxiliary troopers, retired Manchester Police Captain James Soucy, and retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent Edwin Edmunds whose expertise continues to add depth to the Unit's capabilities.

The New Hampshire Department of Justice defines a cold case homicide as one that is more than five years old, remains unsolved, and is no longer actively investigated due to limited leads or resources. Anyone with information related to an unsolved homicide is encouraged to contact the Cold Case Unit at (603) 271-2663 or submit a tip online at https://www.doj.nh.gov/criminal/cold-case.
