On Tuesday, October 21, the West University Place Parks and Recreation Department invites residents to participate in the first statewide Unplug Texas Day! Join us at Colonial Park from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for an evening filled with games, music, and an archery booth provided by Texas Parks & Wildlife. Pack a picnic or purchase dinner from Chick-fil-A, which will be available on-site. Enjoy an evening out with your family and neighbors while disconnecting from electronics!
Led by the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS), Unplug Texas Day invites residents across the state to take a break from screens and "unplug and play" by visiting local parks, trails, open spaces, and recreation centers. During the recent Legislative Session, Governor Greg Abbott showed his support for the initiative by signing Senate Bill 2232, encouraging Texans to log off, get outside, and rediscover the value of real-world connection through parks and recreation.
