The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, was received this afternoon by H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of #Egypt, at the @EgyptMFA ahead of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Their discussions focused on the imperative of finding durable political solutions to the crisis in Sudan, where they expressed deep concern over the ongoing human suffering. They also exchanged views on the situations in Libya & the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as on ensuring sustainable & predictable financing for AUSSOM.
Dr. Abdelatty commended the Chairperson's leadership in mobilising political & diplomatic support to address these pressing challenges & reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast commitment to the principles of African solidarity & partnership.
The Chairperson, for his part, lauded Egypt's active & constructive diplomacy, including its leadership in convening the recent Cairo Summit on Gaza, which underscored Egypt's enduring role in advancing peace & stability in the region. He also briefed the Minister on preparations for the upcoming AU-EU Summit & the AU Reforms Summit to be held in Luanda, Angola, extending an invitation for Egypt to continue playing a key role in shaping the reform agenda of the Union.
