Tailwind Group, a leading owner and operator of student housing communities nationwide, announced it acquired The Holly, an 864-bed student housing community serving Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
The acquisition adds 288 units to Tailwind Group's growing portfolio and expands the company's continued investment in Power 4 university markets. Located about 3.5 miles from Texas Tech University, The Holly provides a solid foundation for strategic improvements to enhance the student living experience and strengthen the community's position in the market.
Beginning in December 2026, The Holly will undergo a comprehensive renovation program to modernize community spaces, enhance the property's exterior, and introduce smart technology throughout the residences. Planned improvements include a redesigned, reconfigured clubhouse; refreshed exterior amenities; enhanced landscaping and signage; and other various property-wide improvements.
"We are excited to continue investing in Big 12 markets and build on the strong foundation The Holly already has in the Texas Tech community," said Krystal Pierce, Chief Relationship Officer and General Counsel of Tailwind Group. "Through thoughtful renovations and strategic improvements, we see an opportunity to elevate the student living experience, strengthen the property's market position, and create long-term value for our partners."
The acquisition reflects Tailwind Group's continued focus on high-quality, value-add opportunities in university markets with strong fundamentals. As Texas Tech University enrollment and demand for off-campus student housing continue to grow, The Holly presents an opportunity to build on an established community through thoughtful renovations, strategic investment, and operational excellence.
Today, Tailwind Group is recognized as one of the nation's top student housing owners and managers, with a portfolio of approximately 43 communities offering more than 21,000 beds across 16 states and 25 universities.
