Farmers Deserve Action on a Bipartisan Farm Bill

Tennessee Farm Bureau is frustrated by the outcome in the Senate Agriculture Committee and is urging lawmakers to continue working toward a bipartisan farm bill. The organization believes farmers and ranchers need the certainty and support that only a strong, comprehensive farm bill can provide.

"Tennessee farmers are frustrated by today's outcome in the Senate Agriculture Committee. We appreciate Chairman Boozman's leadership and his commitment to advancing a farm bill that recognizes a safe, affordable and abundant food supply is fundamental to our nation's security. At a time when agriculture is facing significant economic and regulatory challenges, Chairman Boozman's proposal offered meaningful solutions to strengthen American agriculture and provide greater certainty for farm families," said Tennessee Farm Bureau President Eric Mayberry.

"We urge members of the committee to return in September ready to work across party lines to deliver a bipartisan farm bill that meets the needs of America's farmers and ranchers. That means securing year-round E15, protecting interstate commerce, strengthening conservation programs, and making meaningful investments in agriculture and rural communities. Tennessee farmers-and farmers across this country-work hard every day to produce the food, fuel and fiber Americans depend on. They deserve a Congress that demonstrates the same commitment by delivering a strong, bipartisan farm bill this year."
