Denver Mayor Mike Johnston today shared significant progress on the 2025 citywide goals. Months ahead of the end of year deadline, the city has met or is projected to meet its targets in six key priority areas: Vibrant, Safe, Affordable, All In Mile High, Climate, and Family Friendly.
"Whether it is tackling housing affordability, making our streets safer or revitalizing our neighborhoods, we've proved that when we come together with urgency and purpose, we can achieve what may seem impossible," said Mayor Mike Johnston. "That's why these numbers aren't just a reflection of good government, it is a testament to the creativity and compassion of the people who serve our city."
Key progress highlights include (as of Sept. 30, 2025):
Vibrant Goal
• 16th Street fully reopened in October after three years of construction
• Downtown foot traffic is up to 93% of pre-pandemic levels (September 2025 vs September 2019), marking the highest recovery rate since the onset of the pandemic

Affordable Housing

• The city is projected to meet the 3,000-unit goal by the end of the year due to upcoming office-to-residential conversations that will result in 236 units and another
• 1,000 new income-restricted units that are currently under review
Climate Resilient
• Thanks to landscape and irrigation efficiency projects, Denver is saving significantly more water than the 21 million gallons per year we set out to at the start of 2025
• More than 1,500 heat pumps, EV chargers and solar arrays have been installed year-to-date and more than 3,600 trees planted year-to-date
