Director-General of the International Economic Affairs Department attends the virtual Senior Officials' Meeting of the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS)

On 25 February 2026, Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, in her capacity as SOM Leader of Thailand, attended the virtual Senior Officials' Meeting of the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS). The Meeting was hosted by the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, as ACMECS Chair for the term 2025 - 2026. Also in attendance were Senior Officials of ACMECS Member Countries; namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Thailand reaffirmed its support and commitment to advancing cooperation in various aspects under the ACMECS framework. This includes promoting ACMECS's role as a "strategic connector" to synergize and coordinate development cooperation in the Mekong subregion in a coherent, comprehensive, and sustainable manner, thereby addressing the development needs of member countries and fostering the subregion's sustainable development.

The Meeting reviewed the implementation of the ACMECS Master Plan and acknowledged the summaries of related meetings. They also engaged in fruitful exchanges and reached agreement on key priorities to advance cooperation under the ACMECS framework, including accelerating the establishment of the ACMECS Development Fund (ACMDF) and initiating the formulation of a new ACMECS Master Plan.
