Dear Chairman Cruz and Ranking Member Cantwell:

On behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, I write to express our strong support for S.933, the NASA Transition Authorization Act of 2026, and to commend the Committee for its bipartisan leadership in advancing this critical legislation. As the Committee prepares to mark up this bill, we urge its swift and favorable consideration.

NASA's mission is vital to advancing discovery, sustaining America's leadership in space, enabling commercial innovation, strengthening national security, and inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers. In a period of intensifying global competition, particularly with China's state-backed space ambitions, this legislation is essential to ensuring that NASA has the tools and resources necessary to deliver results and uphold the bipartisan priorities set by Congress.

The NASA Transition Authorization Act of 2026 provides a clear framework for advancing critical missions, including returning Americans to the Moon, supporting commercial space station development, expanding Earth science and space weather capabilities, and fostering public-private partnerships that leverage commercial industry capabilities, drive innovation, and reduce costs to the government. The Chamber supports the Committee's efforts to strengthen U.S. leadership in space and promote competition in the marketplace for services such as launch that will create high-quality jobs, bolster resilience in supply chains, and deliver economic and scientific benefits that ripple across the nation.

The Chamber has long advocated for policies that promote innovation, competitiveness, and public-private collaboration. NASA is a force multiplier for these priorities, and this legislation will help ensure that the agency continues to deliver transformative breakthroughs while maintaining the highest standards of safety, stewardship, and accountability.

We look forward to working with the Committee, Congress, and NASA to advance America's leadership in space and to support the economic progress that follows. Thank you for your continued leadership on this important issue.

Sincerely,

Christopher Roberti
