Hillside Park scores new street soccer field

Fort Worth Park & Recreation is partnering with Street Soccer USA to transform an existing tennis court at Hillside Park into a new street soccer field, expanding recreational opportunities and access to sports in the community.

The project will convert the current court into a dedicated street soccer space featuring artificial turf and built-in goals, designed to support year-round play and programming. The new field will be used for organized programming led by Street Soccer USA and will remain open for free play when programs are not in session.

Street Soccer USA is a national nonprofit organization operating in 16 cities across the United States. Through its programs, the organization provides more than 75,000 youth from underserved communities with access to soccer, mentorship and community-building opportunities.

As part of the partnership, Street Soccer USA is committing up to $10,000 annually toward maintenance of the field, helping ensure the space remains safe, high quality and accessible for years to come.

"This project is a great example of adaptive reuse, taking an underused court and reimagining it as a programable soccer space for the community," said Kyle McClure, assistant director of the Park & Recreation Department. "It shows how collaboration can expand recreational opportunities in Fort Worth."

The Hillside Park street soccer field reflects Fort Worth's continued commitment to innovative partnerships and investing in park spaces that serve residents of all ages and abilities.

Construction timelines and programming details will be shared as the project moves forward.
