NV Energy Postpones Daily Demand Implementation to October 1, 2026

Mar 11, 2026 10:52 AM

NV Energy announced today that it is postponing the start day to implement daily demand, also known as demand charge, to October 1, 2026. The additional time will allow NV Energy to continue enhancing its customer service operations, ensuring customers have the information, tools and resources they need to understand how daily demand works, how it may affect their bill and how their energy use influences daily demand.

Daily demand is designed to better reflect how individuals' peak energy usage impacts the equipment that serves them. By adjusting the implementation timeline, NV Energy will focus on helping customers better understand the new billing component and how their energy use patterns affect demand. NV Energy will also ensure its customer support teams are fully prepared to assist customers and answer questions.

"Postponing the implementation of daily demand is the right decision for our customers," said Brandon Barkhuff, NV Energy President and Chief Executive Officer. "This additional time will allow us to provide customers with personalized information and practical tools so they can better understand how their energy use affects their bill before daily demand takes effect. We are committed to transparency, fairness and earning our customers' confidence in how we bill and communicate."

The company is also continuing to process refunds tied to the multifamily billing misclassification issue. Ensuring affected customers receive refunds swiftly and accurately remains a top priority before introducing the new daily demand line item.

Additionally, NV Energy recently refined its customer service operations to improve how it supports customers. The updated timeline will allow the company to focus on further preparing those teams to respond to customer questions about daily demand.

"Our focus remains on doing the right thing for customers," Barkhuff added. "That means listening to customers, ensuring accuracy in our billing processes and giving people the tools and information they need to understand their energy use."

Customers will receive information about daily demand ahead of the October 1 implementation. For more information about daily demand, customers can visit nvenergy.com/dailydemand
